Freemium SaaS and multi-sided marketplace modeling

Hi All,
I'm working with SaaS companies with freemium and multi-sided marketplace business models. Specifically looking to develop models for both operational use and fundraising purposes. Does anyone have any tips/tricks for leveraging existing Modano templates and modules as a starting point for these specific business models?

For Freemium models: I was thinking about leveraging the SaaS template model and restructuring "leads" as "freemium" users OR having one SaaS revenue line for freemium to track users and then a separate one to track paid users. I don't want to double count users or inflate churn though and may just need to build from scratch.

For multi-sided marketplace models: I don't really know where to begin when revenue is tied to usage, not user licenses.

Going to do some research but thought I'd ask here in case anyone had some words of wisdom.

Thank you!
Andy

HI Andrew,

A little to delve into on this one. First thing to understand is on the freemium side, are there multiple types of payment models, ie. monthly subscription, committed or prepaid?

One approach could be to separate out the volumes by creating a custom module to house the user base modelling inc. new users, churn, attrition. Once you've done this, then you can link the end volumes into the the respective categories that you set up using the existing SaaS driver content.

Multi-sided market is going to be something where you'll have to build out something that manages the transaction values through the marketplace. For example, you will need to have a module that models out the demand side of the marketplace, and then you'll have the respective volumes through the marketplace to attach pricing to.

Bit of a simplistic answer, but hopefully it can help send you in the right direction.
