Dashboard Modules - Print Area

Hi all,

Quick one around dashboarding.

Anyone have experience setting up dashboard modules with default print areas and custom scaling, such that when a dashboard is dropped into a modular workbook it utilises these print settings?

Thanks

Hi Jun,

You've probably noticed that Modano disallows dragging of the print area and page breaks when in Page Break Preview mode. This is because Modano has to disallow dragging and dropping of content as changes made this way to module components would cause a mis-alignment of Modano and Excel content, so there's no easy way around it.

The workaround is to:

  1. Put the sheet in Page Break Preview mode (View tab, Workbook Views group, Page Break Preview button);
  2. Select the print area, etc., you require, then use either the Page Setup tools within the Page Layout tab, or (I prefer to) right-click the mouse and use the print area and page break tools in the shortcut menu to set up your worksheet for printing; then
  3. When you're done (i.e. the worksheet prints perfectly), right-click the mouse within the worksheet (while still in Page Break Preview mode) and click the Capture Print Settings menu item, which will store the print settings within the module component.

Note that the Capture Print Settings tool only works if you've set the 'Locate on dedicated sheet' property of the module component on the active sheet to true, and it's the only (non-time series period titles rows) module component on the sheet. So in essence the Capture Print Settings tool is really designed for dashboard output module components.

Let me know if I've missed the mark mate. M.
