Content sharing - Variance Analysis Dashboard

Hello community!

Happy new year. Hope everyone's gotten back into the swing of modelling for FY19, we certainly have.

This is the year of sharing for us, and we will be sharing genericised modules(is that even a word...) from our library. These will be placed in context to help users see the flexibility and adaptablity/scalability of the system across various use cases.

We've found that the best way to learn is by doing, sharing, and getting feedback (good and bad) from others, so please share your feedback.

All of the shared content will be based on the Chart of Account 6 library to allow maximise compatibility, especially for those Enterprise users that use CoA6 as a starting point.

Variance Analysis Dashboard

This should be familiar content for those that have completed the learning modules. The figures and chart of accounts have been taken from the Wall Street Promotions (budget variance analysis training learning exercise) and placed into this model to help give context.

The model contains a customised version of the budget/variance dashboard from the existing content library. This was created as we kept getting asked (specifically by accountants) to show variance side by side in a summary rather than in a time series (like the one found in the content library). People are used to seeing things in a certain way - who are we to argue. The premise behind the insight makes sense, given the ability to get a snapshot view of variance over longer periods of time.

The model also includes a simplified salaries & wages module that brings in the historical salaries & wages line as a single historical line, and takes the key account approach for forecasts. This has been a common one for relatively smaller clients that use Xero and other accounting packages. Feel free to have a play around, and again, feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Would love to see others share some basic concepts (in modelling, or just using the platform) to help build the skills in the community.

Thanks community
