Split Cell blocks?

Hey Modano team - Would it be possible to add another option on the "Cell Blocks" menu to 'split' cell block (in addition to 'fill right' and 'shorten'? This would be particularly useful when overriding forecast with actuals without having to first shorten the cell block, style it as an assumption cell, and then add the original calculation cell block the calculation section.

Hi Tarjei,

This goes to the core of the way cell block automation works - i.e. anchoring them from the left edge and then scaling right. We will explore relaxing this behaviour, but it's not easy to do without causing the type of chaos that you normally see in non-modular, static Excel workbooks.

With regatds to overriding forecast with actuals, we recommend creating a custom period titles set with period titles blocks that automatically contract and expand and/or use column grouping/hiding to achieve this outcome without the user needing to delete over over-write assumptions, as we've found this is risky and should be avoided. We're aware that this type of 'sliding doors' time series sheet infrastructure often uses more columns and results in a larger file, but all things considered it's often still a much better approach.
