Other Revenue/Expenses outputs

Can anyone explain how to make the outputs from the ‘other revenue and expenses’ module link in to a different section of the income statement?

Hi Geraldine,

Where in the Income Statement would you like to see these items shown?  There is a simple and a complex approach to changing these things around.

Simple: You can just cut the content around like normal Excel!  I usually add a few empty rows into the model where I want to present the same information and then select all of the rows (including the spacer rows above - see image) and then just cut the information into the new location.

Complex: If you're familiar with links work and (as with other expenses / other revenues) dealing with Category Blocks, then you can move links around.

For example, if you want to add the "Other Revenue" into the "Revenue" category block, then you can right-click on the Revenue category block, select the "Link In" option and add the "Other Revenue" link in (see below):

This will result in double-counting as there will be two lots of "Other Revenue" coming into the Income Statement. To resolve this, all you need to do is just delete the unwanted "Other Revenue" block and remove the reference in the "Net Operating Expenses" line (as with normal Excel).

Hope this helps!  Cheers.  James

Hi James,

Been looking for a topic related to Non-Operating Expenses and this is the closest topic I found. What about adding "Non-Operating Expenses" after Net Operating Expenses and before EBITDA? How do I approach it to reflect and sync with my Historical, Forecast and my Financial Statements under Outputs?

Thanks,

Marice

Hi Marice. That's right. There are a couple of options:

Simple / Repurpose. You can just cut the Other Operating Expenditure category block below EBITDA and rename the category group "Non-Operating Expenses" (BUILD / CATEGORY BLOCKS / CATEGORIES GROUP) and then use the Other Expense analysis for this line item.

Complex / Build New. The more complex option is to insert a new category block (for a new category group) below EBITDA, build a new expenses module (or repurpose another amounts-style opex module) and then add in new categories to the financial statements down-stream.

We're going to be doing more videos this year and chart of account changes is one of the first I'll be looking at, so will dart you a note when that's ready.

Cheers. J.
