Non-modano license user updating time series

Hi there,

We have made a Modano model for a client who does not wish to get the modano license.

Is it possible for them to update the time series to the next month when rolling over the model without the modano license?

Regards

Hi Cameron,

The ability to roll forward financial models is a significant part of the value of Modano, as this capability is extremely time consuming, expensive and risky without Modano.

You can always release the workbook and the client can roll-forward the model themselves manually using normal Excel, although this would take an expert modeler hours or even days.

Hence, it really comes down to whether your client would rather spend a small amount of money each month automating this process, or pay you guys more than that to do it for them, or try to do it themselves.

From our experience this is all about communication. Clients unwilling to spend ~$100 per month on automating their model roll-forward simply don’t understand what they are doing, as using Modano is always a net time, cost and risk saving if they're doing these things regularly.

We do have clients that would rather not install Modano and pay us consulting fees to roll their models for them, but we always recommend against them paying for anything that the Modano Excel add-in can automate, as our consulting rates will always end up more expensive for them.

I’d recommend asking your clients to install a full 30-day trial of Modano so they can try doing these things themselves.

As a side note, we are currently exploring releasing a stripped-down edition of Modano that allows limited user-based functionalities such as adding categories and extending the time series, but we don't currently offer this option.
