Hi Chun,
Modano doesn't stop you deleting cell blocks, it just warns you when doing so if deleting cell blocks would cause #REF! errors in the surrounding module.
Can you provide an example file and detailed steps so I can reproduce what you're seeing?
Thanks, M.
Hi Michael,
Yes I understand that. Is there a way to delete these cell blocks and removing the referencing all together? Therefore eliminating the #REF! errors without manually amending the formulas?
Running through one of your practice test and I found it difficult to remove empty cell blocks within predetermined modules.
An example of what I want to do would be removing empty cell blocks (e.g.: Depreciation related cell blocks) within the IS_Qtrly_TO tab.
Hi Chun,
The Modano behaviour here is only different to Excel if you delete cell blocks without deleting their entire rows. When you delete content from cells in normal Excel, the references continue to exist but reference empty cells, whereas Modano replaces references to empty cells with #REF! as cell block formulas must reference other cell blocks. So it's really no different, Modano is just practively preventing errors rather than leaving them in your model without warning.
To remove depreciation from the income statement in your example, I'd just delete the entire rows and manually fix any broken formulas, just like normal Excel.
If I'm still missing your point, please provide an example with very specific cell block references (i.e. their range addresses) and what you're seeing when you try to delete them, so I can reproduce at my end and understand your issue. Thanks, M.
