Cost of Goods Sold Module

Hi All,

I am struggling to find a Cost of Goods Sold Module in the module library. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi DK0,

Which content are you using? If you're using content from within the Generic Financial Model content add-on then you'll need to make sure you've chosen a chart of accounts which includes cost of goods sold and inventory, which at the time of writing this post is either Chart of Account 2, 5 or 6. You can see the differences here:

https://www.modano.com/resources/content_user_guides/generic_financial_model/chart_of_accounts

If you start with a dynamic template or example model with any of these charts of accounts, cost of goods sold modules will be available when you use the Insert From Web tool, as shown below:

Technically, you can check the Show libraries pane check box in the bottom left of the Insert from Web dialog (as shown below) and insert a cost of goods sold from another library, but this will not automatically link throughout your model if it does not contain other modules based on a chart of accounts including cost of goods sold and inventory.

For this reason, like choosing the correct time series early on when scoping, you really need to choose the appropriate chart of accounts when starting building your model as including it later often takes longer than rebuilding your model from scratch.

If you've made significant changes to your model already you can get support from our team and they'll add cost of goods sold and inventory for you quite quickly.

Hope this helps. M.

Pleasure mate, we clearly need to make this clearer somehow, as it is a little overwhelming when you first dive into the libraries. M.

Mike,

If you don't mind one last question. Is there a sources and use of funds module within Modano?

Thank you!

Hi again,

I am in particular referring to this dashboard which was in one of the recent blog posts. Thank you!

Hi Deyan.

Which time series and chart of accounts are you using in your model?

Also, if you're after cash analysis, then try inserting a Cashcade into your model. This is the same information as a Sources & Uses only presented as a waterfall as follows:

Hi James,

Thank you very much! I am using CoA 2 for my model. The cashcade is a very useful tool indeed and I am using it in my current model, however would prefer a more standard form S&U similar to one above and was wondering if it exists in the library (I assume it doesn't :D).

Hi Deyan. What time series are you using?

Yes, unfortunately the S&U isn't official content at the moment. We have the monthly historical-forecast modules built out and use them as a guide for (paid for) implementation, support and client work. Let me konw what your time series is and I'll see if I can find some time to convert if not M-HF.

Cheers. J.
