Annual assumptions in monthly model

I have a monthly budgeting model and want to input some assumptions on an annual basis but I get an error message when I try to insert annual modules. How can I add an additional time series to my model? I used to be able to do this in toolbox but I can't seem to work it out with the new software. Thanks in advance, Channing

Hi Channing.

The best way to think about this is that the main time series for your project is Monthly.  So, if you're looking to add in Annual content, then you need to use the Annual Period Title Sets for the Monthly Time Series Module rather than Annual Time Series Module.

For example: If I want to create annual revenue assumptions, then I typically:

  1. insert the basic Revenue (Amounts) module;
  2. add an annual component to this module - Build Tab/Components/Manage

Note - I also remaned the Title (pressing F2) to include the word "Annual" in the module component.

This will give you a new component in your model into which you can build your annual content as normal:

You might also want to delete the monthly assumption component if this isn't needed any more. And if you're looking to enter seasonal assumptions into a historical-forecast model (that hides columns as it rolls) then I would include a blank assumption component and provide an assumption area of 12 months' calendar analysis into this.

Hope this all makes sense!  Cheers.  James.
